It was certainly a big day out for the Squirrels when they went off to Manchester to explore both the SEA LIFE centre and Legoland Discovery Centre.

After an 8am start and a very giddy road trip, we arrived at the SEA LIFE centre to discover an amazing underwater world. The Squirrels came face to face with sharks, sat in a tunnel full of jellyfish, stroked a starfish, learnt all about ocean conservation and found more than one Nemo! We all loved watching the turtles glide through the Ocean Tunnel too. Did you know that turtles have been around for over 200 million years? That was just one of hundreds of amazing ocean discoveries we made.

After a spot of lunch (and a climb through the soft play!), we embarked on the second attraction of the day. It was time to get building cars, castles and creatures at Legoland Discovery Centre. We were so impressed with the Squirrels’ Lego creations, particularly at how fast some of their cars flew down the test track! Our energetic Squirrels then took on the revolving climbing wall, enjoyed a VR experience and 4D cinema, tested their Lego buildings on the earthquake plate, explored the northern Miniland (made from over 1.5 million bricks!) and enjoyed cycling through the air on Merlin’s Apprentice Ride.

We did say it was a big day out! The journey home was certainly a bit quieter than on the way there, with more than one of the grown-ups struggling to keep their eyes open!
