We understand not everyone can spare the time to become a leader but joining an Active Support Unit is a great way of getting involved with Scouting. There is no need to have been involved in Scouting or Guiding before; all that is required is a willingness to give some of your time. In return, you will make friends and be able to join with others helping make a difference for our adult and youth members through experiencing great events.
We have two sides (with overlap) in our Active Support Unit:
- Supporting events and camps
- Catering team
- Logistics and equipment preparation and then return back to stores
- DBS’ holder, and safety & safeguarding trained extra adults for trips
- Fundraising activities e.g. Car Parking @ Penistone Show, Gates and Refreshments stall for Penistone Gala, Thurgoland Gala and more
- Maintenance and upkeep of the Activity Centre premises
