Andrew Millner has been the Chair of Penistone Scouts’ trustees and executive committee for the best part of the past decade. At our Annual General Meeting Andrew stepped down from the post, handing the baton to Laura Simpson. We are delighted that Andrew remains part of our board of trustees and will continue to support Penistone Scouts’.

Alongside the exec, Andrew has supported the group on many summer camps and has helped sections, best known for teaching Cubs all about Burns night. He is often seen on the media team for District and County led events and has been instrumental in the group getting many grants which have enabled the group to buy new equipment for all members to benefit from.

Andrew is well known in the local community: he’s been the Mayor of Penistone a couple of times, a local counsellor, a Director of Penistone FM, part of the Round Table and heavily involved in many community events. We are hugely grateful and proud of the commitment and support that Andrew continues to make.

At our AGM, Andrew was presented with a bottle of his favourite whisky – a token gesture of appreciation for all that he’s done for Penistone Scouts’ and countless young people’s lives his volunteering will have influenced and positively impacted. Thank you, Andrew.

Laura will be known to many of you already. She spent many years as part of the beaver team and as an Assistant Group Scout Leader. She brings with her a wealth of experience and is excited about focusing her time on the operational side of Scouting whilst still dipping into the youth side occasionally too.
