Penistone Scouts’ are a “Super-group“. I say that in both the fabulous sense but also in terms of the sheer numbers of young people aged between 8 and 18 years old who are members of our group.

With over three hundred members spanning ten sections, we’ve got a huge amount going on. We want to do even more, and to achieve that we need additional adult support.

Bear Grylls spoke with Chris Evans on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show on Thursday 4th October. You can listen to the short piece by clicking on the below BBC iPlayer entry.

During the interview, Bear touched on how it doesn’t matter what capabilities, skills or spare time each of you has.

If you’re a photographer, a musician, a carpenter etc we’d love to hear from you so we can introduce the young people to your experiences and provide them with opportunities to pick up new skills.

Alternatively, if your skills are less hands-on, for example. in accounting, project management, fundraising, media or technology (to name but a few) these brilliant assets can also all contribute towards the enrichment and #SkillsForLife we want to bring to the young people of Penistone.

We have a substantial waiting list (over 200 people in Penistone!) We have planning permission to increase our building footprint. To reduce that waiting list, to add more sections and to maintain the continued reach scouting in our community has enjoyed for over 100 years, we need your support!
