As a youth charity, we want what’s best for young people – their development, engagement, and experiences are the reason for our group’s existence.

To support our awesome youth facing volunteers, we need to have a full and proper grasp of our finances. We need someone to join us as our charity treasurer – in business terms, financial controller type responsibilities. They’ll be supported by and volunteer alongside another volunteer who will look after our day-to-day monies.

You don’t have to be an accountant or any other professional role to fulfil this. Sure, experience helps us, but we’ve spent lots of time simplifying our finances, and there’s lots of support to make sure you’re successful. We aren’t looking for a weekly commitment – as a trustee of the group, you’d be invited to half-termly meetings and ad hoc finance related catchups.

Our current treasurer has had to take over as Penistone’s Mayor, so ideally, we’d love to begin a handover as soon as possible. For the day-to-day finances, a finance student previously supported the group. Perhaps you’re looking for some work experience too?

If this sounds like you, or you’re not sure and want to know more, please contact me. More than happy to have a friendly chat!

#SkillsForLife Scouting encourages young people to never give up, face their fears, take the initiative and work as a team. Through fun and adventures, they gain character, employability and practical skills.
