Rewind: #11 – our week, recapped, plus reminders/bonus materials

Each Sunday, we take a look back over our week of Scouting. Recapping and linking back to posts of the week. Alongside this, we’ll share some additional content that didn’t necessarily make it in the initial cut; we'll usually supplement important info for the coming week too.

Reminders & key information:

Beavers

Weekly meetings – All colonies are meeting on their usual evenings and at their usual base locations.

Cubs

Weekly meetings – All packs are meeting on their usual evenings and at their usual base locations.

Scouts

Weekly meetings – All troops are meeting on their usual evenings and at their usual base locations.

Bowling tournament – In February we have planned an additional event for all Scouts and Explorers; we’ve taken quite a few bookings but there are still spaces available. For details of the bowling tournament, click here

Explorers

Weekly meetings – The unit are meeting on their usual evening and at their usual base location.

Caving trip – We’ve added an explorer caving trip (08/04/18) to the calendar. Please see the event page for sign-up and more information.

Scouts & Explorers

Krakow trip announced – we shared details of our 2019 planned trip to Poland. For event details/bookings, click here

Summer Camp 2019 – We have three options available for our 2019 summer camp. Canada, Iceland or Cornwall. Bruce sent an email and prompted feedback via our social channels earlier in the week. Please share with us your feedback via the following special page

With the reminders out of the way, let’s recap the week and see the additional footage.

This week:

Enigma went caving

We are fortunate to be monopolising so much of the North West Derbyshire Scout Caving team’s calendar! This time, our Monday scout troop headed underground.

Little Libraries update

We shared details of how our Little Library project is taking shape in Penistone. Original post here

Awesome Team Penistone

Whilst numbers can sometimes be dull, Bruce went all Rachel Riley on us and shared details of the group’s 2018 census. Pretty amazing and something the group is incredibly proud of. See the original details here

Beaver panto/sleepover

Beavers from the three colonies went to see Peter Pan at  Grenoside pantomime before having a sleepover at the scout hut.

Friday night is, erm, panto night!

Whilst our beaver colonies were at the pantomime in Grenoside, a large proportion of the rest of our group was at the Penistone Paramount enjoying Penistone Theatre Group’s production of Snow White and the seven dwarves.

Junk modeling

Tuesday and Wednesday Beavers followed in the shoes of Friday Beavers with each team of 5 (or 6) making a Gruffalo, owl, mouse, fox, and snake before acting out the story.
