  • There will be an EGM (Extraordinary General Meeting) of Penistone Scouts’ Scout Council on Saturday 5th January 2019 at mid-day. This will be held at the Scout Hut to allow the Scout Council to receive and consider the financial report for 2017-2018 as we were unable to table this at the recent AGM.

With the reminders out-of-the-way, let’s recap the week.

This week:

Beavers Christmas party

All three Beaver colonies joined together to round off the year by holding a party in the barn at Cubley Hall. thank you to Janet and John for hosting us and providing the buffet! Also, thank you to the parents/guardians who donated a fantastic £55 for “Heads Together

Cubs Movie night

On Thursday, Alegre and Bella Vista Cubs celebrated the end of the term in true Hollywood Style! They watched the Christmas classic Elf and enjoyed a feast fit for the Three Wise Men!

Wibbles’ party

Wibbles scouts had a party theme this week. We played lots of games with individual and team challenges too and the aim of the evening was to win as many  “name credit”‘ as possible that were posted into a ballot box and drawn at the end of the evening.

The star prize was won by Isabella who is also now the troops oldest scout as we say goodbye to Tommy who starts a new scouting venture into Explorers.

All scouts received a Christmas gift and we also said thanks to Eleanor and Joe who helped for the evening as they were back from university.

Explorer’s pizza night

Explorers held a game and pizza night this week with a short quiz thrown in for good measure.

The leader team are meeting over the holidays to plan activities for the new term so if anyone has any ideas that they would like to try then please let us know.

Reminder to all Explorers to log into D of E and update their evidence for authorisation.

Jamboree Team news

The Jamboree team will be busy bag packing this weekend and are well underway with preparations for the Christmas tree collections on 6 January.

Viernes/Enigma Sleepover

40 Scouts from our Monday and Friday troops took part in a sleepover on Friday night. We met at the scout hut, prepared then cooked “cowboy dinners” on open fires that the scouts built and lit themselves with no matches. (Cowboy dinner is mince, onions, carrots and potato with stock. Mixed together and placed into tinfoil before being cooked)
We walked to Penistone Leisure Centre for a spot of late night skating. Richard even had a go, spending most of his time on the floor but laughing nonetheless. Once back to the Scout Hut the scouts got ready for bed and watched a film. Sunday saw some chill out time and games before away just before lunchtime.

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas! See you in 2019 🙂
